I don’t think anyone saw this dropping today, but it’s finally here. Apple has just launched its new entry level but with decent specs, the new iPhone SE (Special Edition).
First iPhone SE was released back in 2016 to resurrect one of the most loved designs of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S. There has been two iconic physical designs that till date are popular and favorites among Apple fans. iPhone 4 and iPhone 5. The other reason to release iPhone SE back then was also to release a more affordable iPhone which would appeal buyers who are interested in the Apple ecosystem but cannot afford the company’s flagships.

Let’s get the specs out of the real quick.
The new iPhone SE (2020) model comes in 3 colors, black, white and red (offered as Product Red) and has similarities to iPhone 8’s physical design.
The new phone is equipped with A13 Bionic chip which is also found in Apple’s flagship iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max. It is a 4.7 inch Retina Display (with True tone), with 1334 x 750 pixels resolution at 325 ppi.
It comes in 64, 128 or 256GB storage sizes and is IP67 (Splash, water and dust resistance) rating. Do note, this iPhone SE comes with only Touch ID (found in iPhone 8) and does not include Apple’s preferred and future looking FaceID that has been there since iPhone 10.
Like the iPhone XR, it comes with a single rear camera at 12 megapixel wide angle f/1.8 aperture and OIS. Taking advantage of A13 Bionic processor Apple is able to include features like Portrait Mode and Depth Control. Apple says iPhone SE will have improved photography, AR capabilities and gaming. The front facing or the selfie camera is 7 megapixel and does recording at 4K/60fps just like its Pro lineup.
Apple says iPhone SE is able to playback 13 hours of video and does last same as what iPhone 8 offered. It also features Dual-Sim and eSim capabilities.
Starting at USD399, it will be up for pre-orders on 17th April and shipments to start by 24th April.
