What To Watch: Netflix Picks

Amidst novel COVID-19 outbreak, a lot of people are working from home and students waiting for schools to re-open. While it can get pretty difficult to sit at home under lock down as it is in many countries. Thanks to many online streaming services, it can help us get the boredom out of the way.

On this post, I will pick 3 of my favorite shows & movies currently listed on Netflix.com.

While it will be almost foolish to discount shows like Money Heist or not so old Stranger Things, but these are popular shows that are promoted in almost all the platforms and people are aware. The below picks are purely for my tastes and you may disagree, hey, entertainment is very subjective, but I thought I’d share it with my readers what I have recently watched or currently watching.

  1. Love Wedding Repeat (movie)

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic comedy, newly released Netflix Original – Love Wedding Repeat. Starring Sam Claflin (Jack), Olivia Munn (Dina), Freida Pinto (Amanda), Eleanor Tomlinsor (Hayley) and Joel Fry (Bryan).

The story revolves around Jack and his sister – Hayley who is getting married and how the brother juggles between, Dina who he really likes but is not able to spend quality time, Marc – Hayley’s secret lover who attends the wedding uninvited, and a misplaced sedative. The story is hilarious as the brother tries to make the perfect wedding for the sister but series of unfortunate events keeps unfolding one after other.

2. Blood ride (Norwegian anthology series)

If you are into thriller/horror then this anthology Norwegian series is a good pick for you. Each episode is a standalone 30min story.

Total of 6 episodes, each episode is with a different story and set of characters all ending with a twist – something you do not expect.

I found almost all episodes fun but watch out for the first two episodes titled “Ultimate Sacrifice” and “Three sick brothers”. “Bad Writer” and “The Old School” are just okay.

3. The Possessions of Hannah Grace (movie)

“When a former cop lands a job at a morgue, her graveyard shift takes a terrifying turn with the delivery of a young girl’s haunted corpse.”

Starring Shay Mitchell in a lead role, this horror story is a bit different than the usual where a girl getting possessed and a priest from the church comes for the rescue. Honestly, at first I thought this horror movie will be no different but it’s something I enjoyed.

It’s dark, suspenseful, and the setting of the movie does gives you chills at places. It is not the best of the horror movies but it is certainly above average something that will keep you intrigued till the end.

The main lead – Megan is an ex cop with a past. She begins her new job at a morgue in a night shift. Her job is to receive deliveries of corpse, document it and put them in storage. Her second night’s delivery was a corpse with its own history, a delivery that will set loose chain of events.

I appreciate the makers did not follow the usual pitfalls and manages to be a different creature of its own.

So these are my 3 picks, I hope you enjoy. Let me know what you think in the comments and also do suggest what movies and TV shows you are enjoying so along with my readers, I too will enjoy watching the suggested shows.
