As I write this, Facebook’s F8 (their annual developers conference) is live in California and Facebook has announced some updates on WhatsApp and Tinder like dating feature.
At F8, Facebook (FB) said 65 billion messages are sent each day. That’s a very big number I must say, not just that but they also said 450 million users use WhatsApp Status daily. If you don’t know what Status is in WhatsApp, it is similar feature to Instagram’s Stories where you can post photos, videos and other media that lasts 24hrs before it expires. More than 2 billion minutes of voice and video are made daily.
FB announced in the coming months, WhatsApp will get group video calls for up to 4 users. Stickers (something I am not a big fan of) is also making its way into WhatsApp.
FB also said they are working on WhatsApp Business for larger corporations. Sometime last year WhatsApp had released WhatsApp Business on Android for small businesses.
Another feature coming into Facebook is Dating, from helping bring families and friends closer through its Facebook platform, they now seem to go a step further by creating love stories!
Jokes aside, apps like Tinder and Bumble have been sorting our relationship goals for a while. Mark Zuckerberg said, “This is (dating feature) going to be for building real, long term relationships, not just hook-ups.”
The feature will be optional and will require the user to Opt-in for it to make the dating profiles to go public.
