Corporate VP for the Office team – Kirk Koenigsbauer wrote in a blog post yesterday about the new features in the February Office 365 update.
February update theme is all about advances in creativity, teamwork and management in the modern workplace.
Mr. Kirk writes,
New Office 365 capabilities this month include tools to improve the quality of your work, craft compelling resumes, and work with team members outside your organization. Office 365 administrators also benefit from new ways to manage collaboration at scale, communicate complex ideas, and protect their employee and customer data. Read on for details.
Improve your writing with editor – Similar to Design Ideas in PowerPoint, a new editor pane shows up on the side of Microsoft Word with assisting tools such as enhancements with corrections, refinements, and stylistic suggestions that is in line with the context of your document.
For Education subscribers, there will be an addition of Dashboard for teachers to understand common errors the students make and inform lesson plans.
Editor overview is available to all Office 365 Subscribers and replaces the old spell check pane. You check this new feature out, head to Review and click on Check Document in Microsoft Word.
Resume Assistant for Word – I already wrote about this feature, a feature powered by LinkedIn. Resume Assistant is an AI feature in Word that helps you craft compelling Resume with personalized insights.
The blog further says, “This month, Resume Assistant began rolling out to Office 365 consumer and commercial subscribers on Windows. With over 80 percent of resumes updated in Word, Resume Assistant helps job seekers showcase accomplishments, be more easily discovered by recruiters, and find their ideal job.”
Microsoft Teams gets Guest mode – Microsoft Teams is a Slack competitor, Teams is a real time collaborative tool that combines workplace chats, meetings, notes, attachments and add on integrations to 3rd party solutions, Teams is available to Office 365 subscribers.
Prior to February update, only users with Azure Active Directory accounts would gain access to Microsoft Teams, with this update, one of the most requested features from its users has finally come, the Guest Mode. With this release, anyone with a business email or consumer email address can join into Teams and gain access to all the activity.
